CareActor Inc.’s Faces & Facts Sheet - 10/23/04

My emotions were stirred recently as I re-watched the end of the “Field of Dreams” and I was reminded of the power of a story to move us and I was encouraged to know that the Heavenly Father I seek to highlight in the stories I show & tell is One who is building a place that we who believe in Christ might come! And while in Lincoln for a wedding my path crossed that of a man and I was reminded of the sticking power of a story. When noting he looked familiar to me I told him I had been in his church some time ago and had done a dramatic presentation and he immediately said Bartimaus. I had indeed done the story of Bartimaus as a dramatic monologue there over five years before and while he hadn’t remembered exactly who I was the story had struck a cord and stuck!
In the last few weeks CareActor Inc. has had the privilege of sharing dynamic truths, characters & stories of the Bible through the dramatic arts to a variety of groups, in a variety of settings from children to youth, from college students to senior adults, from the basement of a home to an upper room over a garage in another home, from a classy church auditorium to a functional youth-ized room, from a metro area to the midst of Nebraska’s prairie land and from a gathering of professional clergy to a gathering in a home without full time clergy present. And there are the faces always the faces among them the face of a young boy whose mother told me he had turned to her (probably while Billy Big Mouth Bass was sharing) and said to
her “I like this preacher”, the face of a college coed who was in the drama class at Super Summer ‘03 who is now helping with drama in her college ministry group, the face of a middle school aged young man who came right up to me and told me how very much he appreciated what I had shared as camp pastor at Super Summer, the face of a county worker who wanted to know if I wanted the car I was licensing in my name or Goober’s (it seems her kids go to the elementary school where ‘Goober’ has shared) and I see the face of a dark clad high school aged young lady who approached me after a presentation and shared a bit of the hurt going on in her home giving me the chance to pray with her.
The Lord has highlighted a couple of things I am praying for this ministry venture from Colossians 4:3-4 - #1. That God will open doors for this venture and #2. That as I walk through those open doors I may proclaim the mystery of Christ clearly. I humbly invite you to join me in praying this for CareActor Inc.
As the Lord allows here are a few of the doors we’re scheduled to walk through in the coming weeks:
-October 24 - Sharing morning and evening in the Hillsboro, Kansas area.
-October 25 - At the Red Ribbon Week all school assembly
at Alcott Elementary School in Hastings.
-October 31 - At the Mennonite Brethren Church in Henderson, NE
-November 5-6 - At a conference for youth workers and parents
of youth at the Webster Conference Center.
-November 7 - At First Southern Baptist Church in Abilene, KS
-November 10 - At the AWANA club of the Hastings Berean Church
-November 19-20 - At the KNCSB’s Evangelism Conference.
Please know as you pray &/or give to this ministry venture you are a part
